Vereb has a background in Freestyle Wrestling, which is notable as Hungary usually gets it's best results in Greco-Roman, but he has won medals at many tournaments including on the highest level. He is a 3-time bronze medal winner at the European Wrestling Championships, and won another bronze at 2013 World Wrestling Championships. He competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 74kg division, but lost in the opening round to Ben Askren.


He also won medals at the Grand Prix events of Paris, Spain, and Germany, a gold at the Henri Deglane Challenge in France, and is a multiple time Hungarian National Freestyle Wrestling Champion.
